The film is an anthropological study of the fishing culture that existed for many centuries on the island of Aran. It is, in all fairness to my students, a little slow, though it has much to recommend it with respect to its cinematography and its imagery.

The reaction to Man of Aran was so poor from the Documenting Justice class that I thought should find a different film to show that month. If you really want to see it, I can always lend it to you.
