Marjorie Devine was a teacher and a writer. She graduated from Victoria College, University of Toronto, in 1959. She taught in Southern Ontario and at Toyo Eiwa Girls School, Tokyo. She was also an occasional teacher in Thunder Bay, Iroquois Falls and Etobicoke, for 33 years. She wrote the memoir Irma in 1993, about her Estonian friend that was also published in Estonian. Her book, William Thain: The Violin Teacher, was published with her daughter Carol in 2022.
