Poets from The Blasted Tree chapbook press will read from their work on Thursday, September 27, 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, in the Bookshelf Greenroom.
Zane Koss, Sacha Archer, Kevin Heslop, and Katerina Sevelka from The Blasted Tree will be joined by locals Candace de Taeye and Mike Chaulk. The MC will be local poet Karen Houle.

Sacha Archer is a poet that works in numerous mediums, and is the editor of Simulacrum Press (simulacrumpress.ca). Archer has two full-length collections of poetry, Detour (gradient books, 2017) and Zoning Cycle (Simulacrum Press, 2017), as well as a number of chapbooks, the most recent being TSK oomph (Inspiritus Press, 2018) and Contemporary Meat (The Blasted Tree, 2018). He occasionally reviews, interviews and writes what he pleases at sachaarcher.wordpress.com. Archer lives in Burlington, Ontario.
Mike Chaulk is a founding member of &, collective. His work has appeared in PRISM: International, filling station, Matrix, Up Here, and on the Lemon Hound blog. He punched years as the Associate Poetry Editor of The Incongruous Quarterly as well as Editor-in-Chief of The Void Magazine at Concordia University. His most recent poetry manuscript, Night Lunch, was shortlisted for the 2014 Robert Kroetsch Award for Innovative Poetry.
Candace de Taeye's poetry has been published in CV2, Carousel, Echolocation, Feathertale.com and Joypuke. Her first chapbook, Roe, was published by PSGuelph in 2015. Her debut full-length collection, Small Planes and the Dead Fathers of Lovers, was published by Vocamus Press in 2016.
Kevin Heslop is a student of poetry whose work has won Poetry London and Occasus Literary Journal prizes. As an actor, he has appeared as Creon and Katherine Minola. He organizes London Open Mic Poetry, and is resident interviewer for The /temz/ Review.
Karen Houle is associate professor of philosophy at the University of Guelph in Guelph, Canada. She co-edited a book of essays on Hegel and Deleuze with Jim Vernon entitled, Hegel and Deleuze: Together Again for the First Time (Northwestern University Press, 2013). Her monograph, Responsibility, Complexity, and Abortion Toward a New Image of Ethical Thought, was released in 2013 by Lexington Books. She is also the author of two books of poetry: Ballast (House of Anansi Press, 2000) and During (Gaspereau Press, 2008).
Zane Koss is a poet and scholar currently living in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. He was born and raised in the Columbia Valley, BC, and has previously lived in Guelph, ON, and Montreal, QC. He has worked as a canoe shack barker, unskilled labourer, skilled labourer, warehouse picker, teaching assistant, research fellow, and poet. He is currently a doctoral candidate at New York University, where his research focuses on Canadian and Mexican poetry in the 1960s and 70s. His writing can be found in the Chicago Review, CV2, Poetry is Dead, and elsewhere. His debut volume of poetry, Warehouse Zone, was published by Publication Studio Guelph in 2015.
Katerina Sevelka is a writer from Toronto, Ontario where she currently also resides. She makes poetry and prose that focus on ideas highlighting intimacy, geography, and their interplay with memory and the body. Her work often discusses grief and sexuality, and is influenced by her artistic upbringing as a musician and the ability to create narrative through sound.
