The Eden Mills Writers' Festival celebrates its 30th Anniversary on Friday, September 7, 8:00 P.M, at the Eden Mills Community Hall.
Join Gary Barwin, author of Yiddish for Pirates, which won the Stephen Leacock Medal for Literary Humour, and Patricia Oliver, author of The Gynesaurs, for an entertaining evening to kick off the 2018 festival! Folk-singer, Doris Folkens, who writes songs rooted in storytelling, and award-winning fiddler, Shane Cook, are our special musical guests for this lively evening of story and song. The night will begin with a Territorial Acknowledgement by Eden Mills residents Kieran and Teeka Rice, followed by a ten-minute reading from “The Cowgirl and the Indian”, a play about Native non-Native relations, written in collaboration with their mother, playwright Dale Hamilton and Coast Salish elder Shane Point. Cash bar.
