VWC's 2021 Free February Writing Workshops continues with Mike Chaulk leading a session on "Poetry and the Particular", on Sunday, February 28, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
This session will explore reading and writing poetry as it relates to the mundane and peculiarly matter of fact. Consider how these approaches can offer accessibility and reliability to a poem. We will explore reading and writing poetry as it relates to the particular, the mundane, and the peculiarly matter of fact. We will look at such approaches as launching points and how they can offer accessibility and reliability folks may not otherwise expect from poetry.
Author Bio: Mike Chaulk is the author of Night Lunch (Gordon Hill Press, Spring 2020) a book about his time working as a seaman in Nunatsiavut and Labrador. His work has appeared in Best Canadian Poetry 2018, Arc Poetry Magazine, The Malahat Review, The Puritan, PRISIM: International, and filling station, among other places.
