Children's Reading Room is hosting Booktoberfest, its first official event, on Saturday, October 1, anytime between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM at the Children's Reading Room, 210 Silvercreek Parkway North, located at the back of All Saints Church.
Since opening our doors this past May, Children's Reading Room have distributed over 1,800 free children's books in the city of Guelph! They have met hundreds of families and made some incredible connections with folks all over town. Booktoberfest will be a celebration of books and literacy and a chance for people in the community to come together, get to know the Children's Reading Room, pick put some free books to take home, and enjoy some family-friendly activities!
Children's Reading Room is also collecting unwanted clothing and household goods in a collaborative fundraiser with Value Village. This is called a FUNDrive. At the end of the event, all the donated goods will be weighed, and Children's Reading Room will get a monetary donation based on the amount of items collected. This will help us to sustain our programs while we apply for grants, donations, and sponsorships elsewhere.
