The Old Garage is a chapbook length work of creative nonfiction that explores the role that traditional community hubs like car garages, soda counters, and churches had on small town life. It's a quiet study of the kinds of people who operated those community spaces, subtly changing the lives of those who lived around them.
CAROLYN DAVEY studies people. She empathizes with their experiences and seeks to describe their joys – and tears – in such a way as to help the reader understand the multi-faceted diamond that is life. Although she is fascinated by the whole spectrum of human behaviour, she particularly interested in exploring mental health issues in her writing. Her coming of age paralleled the birth of the Women’s Liberation Movement in the 1960’s, and she is fiercely independent. Her walk with God has taken her down some unusual paths.
