A nation of radiant nature, howling laughter, and unending joy; Art, Lucille, and Calixto
have crash-landed in Kavaiya. Birds with mushroom-cap heads soar through the skies, and
magical berries grow across the land. Everyone in Kavaiya is happy – all the time.
Art and their friends must uncover the mystery of the power of the “Creator’s Almanac,”
a strange ability Art possesses that allows them to read minds. Someone in Kavaiya has the same
power, and they may hold the key to helping Art free the country of Manna from the Human
King’s ghastly rule.
The group is separated upon their arrival. Calixto is arrested and interrogated as a
suspected rebel. Meanwhile, Art follows Lucille to an execution occurring in the town square.
The crowd cheers on the death of a man named Redd Wallace. Art doesn’t understand why, but
Lucille is laughing with the crowd – screaming, violent, uncontrollable laughter.
Art enters Lucille’s mind and uncovers a hidden history of Kavaiya that has been locked
away in her memories.
The group hopes they can help the people of Kavaiya and uncover the mysteries of the
power before Manna’s generals catch up to them.
