VWC Is Looking for Coordinators

So, now that Vocamus Writers Community is starting to get back into the swing of things (whether virtually or sometimes even – gasp! – in person), we're looking for a few people who might like to help coordinate certain activities that have lapsed over the covid times. Maybe one of these roles would suit you:

  1. Poetry Group Coordinator – This is our general poetry group, open to anyone seriously writing in the form. It usually met in a cafe once a month on a weekend afternoon, but the coordinator would be free to find a time and place that worked best for people.

  2. Literary Fiction Group Coordinator – This was previously called the Novel Group. It's our general literary fiction group, open to anyone seriously writing in the form, distinct from the Genre Fiction Group, which meets separately. It usually met in a pub on the 2nd Wednesday of the month, but the coordinator would be free to find a time and place that worked best for people.

  3. Children's Literature Group Coordinator – This is our children's literature and picture book group. It hasn't had a regular time and location for a couple of years, but there is some demand to revive it. The coordinator would need to find what kind of format would work best.

  4. Graphic Novel Group Coordinator – This is our graphic novelists' group, and it hasn't had a regular time and location for a couple of years, but there is some demand to revive it. The coordinator would need to find what kind of format would work best.

  5. Creative Non-Fiction Group Coordinator – This is our general memoir and creative non-fiction group. It has been on hiatus for some time. The coordinator would need to find what kind of format would work best.

  6. Playwrights and Screenwriters Group Coordinator – We've never had an official group of this kind, but there is some demand for one. The coordinator would need to find what kind of format would work best.

  7. Fall Retreat Coordinator – We've got the retreat handled for this year, but we'd like someone to take this role on and offer some new ideas or directions for our annual one day Fall Retreat in the coming years.

  8. Social Media Coordinator / Director of Communications – We have been without a Social Media Coordinator since covid began. The role would involve managing our twitter, Facebook, and Guelph Arts Council feeds, and finding ways to engage our audience better. Or, if you feel like you could really get into a role like this, it could also be made into a Director position, which would involve sitting on the Board of the non-profit corporation and taking responsibility for the full communications of the organization.

If any of these roles would interest you, or even if you just want some further information, feel free to contact us at vocamuswriterscommunity@gmail.com.
