Here's the February 2025 Vocamus Writers Community Newsletter.

Take special note that we're presenting our Free February Workshops with the Guelph Public Library on Sunday afternoons at 2:00 this month and that the Rock / Paper / Scissors - Book and Print Fair is on Sunday February 23, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 at the Art Gallery of Guelph.

Events

  • Judith Nasby will be leading a session on "The Art if Memoir"  on Sunday February 2, 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM in the Main Library Program Room. The event is free. Register here – https://guelphpl.libnet.info/event/12649727.

  • The Women's Writing Circle meets every Monday, 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Village Loom in Eden Mills. $15-20 suggested donation or PWYC. drop-in welcome. Email villageloom@gmail.com.

  • Local author Kira Vermond is running her 23-Minute Writers’ Club online on Fridays at 4:00 PM for 45 minutes. And it's free! Email kira@vermond.ca for the link.

  • The VWC Second Saturday writers' hang-out is on February 8, 7:00 PM at Atmosphere Cafe on Carden Street. It's a casual and unstructured chance to meet with other writers. All are welcome.

  • The Elora Poetry Centre (7324 Wellington County Road 21, Elora) will host Tillia Kooyman on Sunday February 9, 2:30 PM, for an afternoon of music for which the audience will be encouraged to write lyrics.

  • James Nowak will be leading an online session on "Poetry 101 - The Line" on Sunday February 9, 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM. The event is free, Register here – https://guelphpl.libnet.info/event/12792284.

  • The Guelph Guild of Storytellers hosts Stories from the Hill at the Guelph Civic Museum on Thursday February 13 at 7:00 PM. 

  • Lauren Wright Vartanian will be leading a session on "Stitching Science" on Sunday February 16, 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM in the Main Library Program Room. The event is free. Register here – https://guelphpl.libnet.info/event/12649713.

  • Vocamus Writers Community and the Guelph Arts Council present the In Your Own Words Open Mic at the ArtBar (formerly the Ebar, above The Bookshelf) on Wednesday February 19 at 7:00 PM.

  • Join the VWC Poetry Group online on Saturday February 22, from 2:00 to 3:30 PM. It's an informal group for poets at various points in their careers. Email vocamuswriterscommunity@gmail.com for the link.

  • Musagetes and PS Guelph present the Rock / Paper / Scissors - Book and Print Fair on Sunday February 23, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 at the Art Gallery of Guelph.

  • Join us for our VWC Last Sunday Writers' Hang-Out, an informal chance to meet and chat with other authors at the the front cafe table in Miijidaa on Sunday February 23 at 1:00 PM. All are welcome.

  • The Last Thursdays Zoom runs on the last Thursday of each month at 7:30 PM. It's for memoir and other creative non-fiction writers at all stages. Email martina.freitag@gmail.com for the link.
