VWC Newsletter – September 2021

It's September, and there's lots of VWC news to get through, and some other fun events as well, so let's get to it.

Several of our regular events are now back, including our Second Saturday writers' hang out, our Last Sunday writers' hang-out, and our Monday morning Writing Room co-writing times. You can find details below.

  • The Guelph Enabling Garden and the Guelph Guild of Storytellers have one last Tea 'N' Tales event for the summer on September 3, from 10:30 AM until 11:30 AM. You can find details at https://www.guelphstorytellers.com/.

  • Guelph author Nicholas Ruddock is launching his new book, Last Hummingbird West of Chile, through an online event on Wednesday September 8, at 7:00 PM. Details here – https://www.facebook.com/events/139270261662483.

  • Vocamus Writers Community's Second Saturday writers' hang-out is on Saturday September 11, 7:00 PM, at Fixed Gear Brewing. It's a casual and unstructured chance to meet with other writers, have a drink, and chat about what you're reading and writing.

  • Writing Room begins again on Monday September 13. It's a quiet co-writing time, is on Monday mornings from 9:00 AM to noon at the Guelph Little Theatre. Sttendance is limited. Details here – https://vocamus.net/community/events/2021/09/writing-room.

  • The Eden Mills Writers' Festival presents "Where is Home?", a panel with Silmy Abdullah, Kazim Ali, Kamal Al-Solaylee, hosted by Bee Quammie, on Thursday September 16, 8:00 to 9:30 PM. Register here – https://edenmillswritersfestival.ca/where-is-home/.

  • Guelph author Melinda Burns offers a Fall Writers Group, online on Wednesdays, from September 22 to October 26. Registration is $50 +HST. To register, e-mail Melinda Burns at mbeburns@sympatico.ca.

  • Vocamus Writers Community Last Sunday writers' hang-out is from 1:00 to 3:00 PM on Sunday September 26, outside under the pavilion at GCVI. Bring your own snacks and drinks and chairs, and join other writers for an informal conversation about writing and whatever else might come up.
