Vocamus Writers Community is pleased to welcome Libby Johnstone.
Libby is a writer of non-fiction and poetry. She has a Bachelor’s degree in English literature and completed the University of Guelph's MFA creative writing program in 2013. In the late '90s, she also studied music at Selkirk College in the BC Kootenays. You can find her complete profile here – https://vocamus.net/community/authors/libby-johnstone.
These days, bent on sharing the tools that make the writing process easier, as a writing coach and workshop facilitator she focuses on the most important step: overriding all the thinking that hobbles creative process. Her workshops are geared toward young writers in particular, to counter the myth around writing as 'hard,' and to provide new methods of approach. She also shares writing games for little writers (ages 4-10), and a serial short fiction course for middle-schoolers and teens, on her weekly blog. When lockdown lifts, her program, The Littlest Writers Club, will resume at The Children's Art Factory.
Finally retired from the hospitality industry, where she earned her stripes as a server for over 25 years, she currently resides in Guelph with her husband and teenage daughter. In her off hours, Libby continues to work on a series of essays about her intense relationship with her father, their 30-year estrangement, and the massive stroke that brought him back to her in ways she could never imagine.
